Data sources
Suggestions in the “What” and “Where” search fields come from open directories. They are a search index, not job ads: no jobs are created from them.
Occupations: ESCO
Occupation titles, synonyms and translations come from ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations), the classification of the European Commission, including the ISCO-08 occupational structure.
Obtained from the official ESCO API of the European Commission (ec.europa.eu/esco/api), current version provided there. The API does not return a separate version number; data was retrieved on 26 Sep 2026.
Under the ESCO terms, use is free of charge, including commercially, provided the source is acknowledged and changes are indicated.
Acknowledgement as required by ESCO
RyhJobs modifications
RyhJobs has added its own search terms to the ESCO data, e.g. “Gastronomie”, “IT” or “Fahrer” (driver), so that broad terms find matching occupations. These terms are not part of ESCO and are not the responsibility of the European Commission. Titles are also simplified for searching (case, umlauts).
Places and postcodes: GeoNames
Places, regions, districts, neighbourhoods, coordinates, alternative spellings and postcodes for Germany, Austria and Switzerland come from GeoNames (https://www.geonames.org).
Licence: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). This applies to the place data and the postcode data.
Obtained from the GeoNames country files DE, AT, CH and postcode files DE, AT, CH, retrieved on 26 Sep 2026. RyhJobs converted the data for search (level assignment, simplified search text, postcode ranges).
Data status
Occupations: 2,942 of the 2,942 ESCO occupations listed by the API on 26 Sep 2026, in 619 occupation groups. The 20 previously missing occupations were added on 26 Sep 2026; comparing identifiers showed no remaining gap.
Places: 115,585 entries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Other countries are not yet included.
The directories are not updated automatically.

Jobs shown come exclusively from the employers’ connected applicant tracking system and are independent of these directories.
